The current trend of describing space age
electronic organs as "a new generation of musical instruments" has a
special meaning for the Iorio family. Not only have they recently developed a
new solid-state organ housed in an accordion body, but for six generations, the

In the late 19th century, Augusto Iorio, an organ apprentice applied the skills
acquired from his forefathers to the manufacture of accordions. At the turn of
the century, he emigrated to the

Al Iorio
Amedeo (Al) Iorio, current president, helped
to bring the conventional accordion to its final development period with his
invention of the "Amplisonic" tone chamber
in 1954. A mechanical engineer with a degree from Stevens Institute of
Technology, Al first worked for Fairchild Aviation Corp. on aerial cameras.
After joining the US Air Force during World War II, he served with a B-29
squadron on
Al Iorio received several patents for the accordion/organ, which he later
licensed to the accordion industry including Cordovox.
